Tagbilaran City is the capital of Bohol. It is named as the City of Friendship. It is the main gateway of the island.

Tagbilaran City is awarded by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia as one of the eight (8) Philippine Dream Cities. It is also one of the 20 Most Competitive Cities in the Philippines in 2005 and 2007.

It is also the home to the island's major Seaport, Airport, busiest Malls as well as several Hotels, Loddging Inns and Restaurants.

Due to its popularity, the city has recently become the venue for national conventions in the Philippines.

Tagbilaran Seaport is the busiest port in Bohol. It accommodates approximately 5,000 passengers on a daily basis coming from Manila,Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Iligan, Dipolog, and Dumaguete.This is also the docking place for cargo ships.

Tagbilaran City is referred to as " Tourist Pier”. This port is clean, spacious and well-equiped, something that Boholanos can be proud of. A waiting area is provided where passengers can buy their tickets, food and souvenirs.

Vans for hire are parked on the the parking area. Mult-cabs are also available which bring passengers to Dao Central Terminal where Jeepneys and busses are waiting for passengers travelling to different towns of Bohol. Tricycles are alsong available to take passengers to different parts of Tagbilaran City.
